About Lhtako Dene Nation
Lhtako Dene Nation is a strong and proud nation. We believe in compassion, equality, and honesty. We honour and support the well-being of our Elders, our youth, and our community members. We strive to strengthen our culture by preserving our tradition, history, and heritage.

The Family Centre
We opened our Family Centre in 2022 as a central hub for programs that support children, youth, and families. While it was originally created as an early learning and childcare program, it has since grown to include youth activities, language and culture programs, a community kitchen, and a wide range of family support services to meet the needs of our growing community.
Our programs are designed to strengthen families by offering healthy activities, connecting members to essential supports, and helping with everyday needs. Through prevention-focused strategies, we work to reduce child safety concerns, build on family strengths, and provide wraparound, collaborative supports that ensure families feel supported and connected.
Our Programs
At the Family Centre, we have a wide range of programs, services, and supports that can be accessed by Lhtako Dene members and their families. We believe in lifting our families up so that they can engage in the important work of parenting and teaching the next generation. Please reach out to one of our team members if you need some support.

Family Support
We have a number of supports that can be accessed by families.
One way we do this is by supporting parents who are involved with MCFD to navigate the challenging child protection system.
Another way we do this is by providing food to families in need.

Early Learning & Childcare
We offer drop in early learning and childcare for children aged birth to 5 years old, Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Our programs are supervised by Early Childhood Educators and emphasize our culture and teachings.
Youth
Our youth drop in program is fun, healthy, and geared to supporting youth to reach their full potential.
We have a mix of structured and unstructured activities that are age appropriate (12 years+) and help youth learn new skills.

Join our Elders as they teach our sacred Dakelh language on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 5:00 pm.
We continually offer a variety of workshops, skills building, and field trips out to the lands. Activities include sewing, beading, drum making, and gathering medicines.
